Location: Hospital of Mytilene, Lesvos, Greece
About the Project:
The first hours, days, and weeks of a newborn are known to be critical to their development and the type of attachment they will establish with their mothers. Giving birth after a long journey full of traumatic experiences and loss, away from home and family and the natural supporting system increases the chances of postpartum depression and other mental health issues of the new mothers. Our mental health team and our trained volunteers provide the basic needs for the newborn and their mothers through holistic support that aims to improve the newborn-mother bonds in these very early stages.
